The revolt of the reader

Readers are increasingly frustrated with LLM-authored content and can easily detect its characteristic stylistic patterns, leading them to abandon the piece and avoid the author in the future. A survey found that 78% of developers stop reading immediately upon detecting AI assistance, with 71% actively avoiding those authors afterward, and 98% prefer authentic human writing over AI-polished prose. The author argues that LLM-assisted writing violates the implicit social contract between writer and reader, as readers shouldn't be expected to decipher content the writer themselves didn't labor to create.
