The New MCP Roadmap

Anthropic has published an updated roadmap for the Model Context Protocol (MCP) with five priority areas focused on modernizing the protocol for agentic AI workloads. The roadmap prioritizes agentic messaging primitives (server-initiated events and task composition), HTTP-native transport unification, and enterprise-ready security features including standardized agent identity and delegation. The roadmap was developed collaboratively by Core Maintainers, community maintainers, and Working Groups to guide protocol development over the coming months.
