Finn Jensen (LA8YB), a Norwegian amateur radio operator, spent over 10 years building one of the world's largest antenna arrays—a 32 x 17-element Yagi system for 144 MHz near Oslo—which allowed him to achieve remarkable feats like hearing his own echoes with just 10 watts of power and working single Yagi stations easily. He engineered the entire system himself, including two towers on a rail system, and earned the WAS award by making confirmed contacts with all 52 US states via the Moon on 144 MHz. Finn passed away from cancer on August 20, 2011, leaving behind a legacy as an outstanding and helpful member of the amateur radio community.
