The Creation of Abulafia

In Umberto Eco's 1988 novel *Foucault's Pendulum*, three skeptical editors create a computer program called Abulafia that generates random connections between occult manuscripts, initially treating it as a game. However, they become trapped in a recursive cycle where their meaningless output gets reinterpreted as meaningful text and fed back in, eventually blurring the line between fabrication and belief until the conspiracy they knowingly invented becomes indistinguishable from truth.
