Teaching a World Model to Play Pokemon
Researchers trained a world model architecture (JEPA) to play Pokémon Red by learning to select a starter Pokémon from Professor Oak's lab. The experiment demonstrated that the model could plan and execute a sequence of button presses to achieve the goal, though the training process encountered more difficulties than initially expected. This work highlights the potential of world models to learn complex decision-making in interactive environments.
