Tailwind Labs is joining Shopify

Tailwind Labs, the creator of the widely-used Tailwind CSS framework installed over 110 million times per week, is joining Shopify to ensure long-term stability and maintenance of the open-source project. Adam Wathan, Tailwind's founder, states that the acquisition allows the team to develop the framework within a real product context at Shopify while serving millions of dependent users, though all Tailwind CSS projects will remain MIT-licensed and open-source. The company will discontinue new customer sign-ups for commercial Tailwind products to focus on the core framework development.
