A University of Georgia study found that blue light from smartphones, computers, and TVs impairs the eye's ability to distinguish fine detail more than other light wavelengths due to greater light scattering and optical aberrations. The research also revealed that people with lighter-colored irises experience more light scatter than those with darker brown irises because melanin absorbs excess light scattering. These findings could inform the design of future lighting technologies and digital displays while explaining why some individuals are more sensitive to bright light and glare.
