Steam Machine game testing

Valve's new Steam Machine (codenamed "GabeCube") is a compact Linux-based gaming device with an attractive modular design, but its mid-2026 release is hampered by last-generation hardware—specifically an RDNA3 GPU with 28 compute units that struggles to meet Valve's advertised 4K 60 FPS performance claims, even with FSR upscaling technology. While the semi-custom Zen 4 processor is adequate for gaming, the graphics package is the primary disappointment, offering performance comparable to AMD's older RX 7600 card from 2023.
