StarCraft returns in 2030 as an open-world shooter
Blizzard announced that StarCraft will return in 2030 as an open-world shooter, marking the franchise's revival over a decade after the last StarCraft II expansion. The new title will shift from the series' traditional real-time strategy format, featuring a cinematic trailer that focuses on humanity's United Earth Directorate faction battling the Zerg. This represents Blizzard's second attempt to bring StarCraft into the 3D shooter genre, following the canceled StarCraft: Ghost project from 2002.
