A developer has successfully ported Pokémon Emerald to the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 microcontroller, running the full game natively at 60 fps with HDMI output on a $6 board. The port recompiles the game's decompiled source code from ARM to Cortex-M33 architecture and reimplements the Game Boy Advance's video hardware in software, with the entire 11.7 MB game stored in flash memory and playable from start to finish with functioning saves.
