Sharded, encrypted storage between friends over Yggdrasil
Yggstore is a proof-of-concept system for decentralized, encrypted file storage among peers using the Yggdrasil overlay network, where files are split into encrypted shards and distributed across group members' machines so they can survive individual node failures. The system operates without a central coordinator, uses public keys for node identification, and allows users to share files by sending encrypted stubs while maintaining full version history and supporting additional features like messaging, websites, and email hosting. The project is experimental and explicitly warns that its cryptography has not been independently reviewed, so users should not rely on it as their only backup.
