The author argues that RISC-V's fundamental flaw is trying to be optimal for all use cases simultaneously—from supercomputers to tiny microcontrollers—when the design requirements for these applications are inherently contradictory. While RISC-V will eventually dominate the cheap microcontroller market due to improvements over the 8051 architecture, this success will happen despite its ISA design rather than because of it, as different CPU classes have opposing architectural needs that cannot be unified in a single instruction set.
