A developer has successfully recreated the 3dfx Voodoo Graphics card on an FPGA as part of a larger DOS PC emulation project called z486 XL, running on a Xilinx KV260 board. The implementation, called zSST, supports key Voodoo features like texture filtering, depth testing, fog, and blending, with Tomb Raider confirmed running with its original 3dfx renderer. The project leverages released Glide source code and existing specifications to accurately emulate the graphics hardware that defined late-1990s PC gaming.
