QBE 1.3, a major compiler backend release, introduces a new IL matching algorithm (mgen tool), Windows ABI support, and position-independent code generation, along with numerous performance optimizations that improve coremark benchmark scores from 40% to over 63% of commercial compiler performance. The release also delivers a 33% performance improvement for the Hare test suite compared to version 1.2, representing significant progress toward QBE's goal of reaching 70% of GCC -O2 performance.
