A dog owner in the Bay Area created custom 3D-printed protective gear for their dog Hildegard after she suffered a foxtail seed injury, addressing limitations of existing commercial products like the OutFox Field Guard. The custom helmet design features a thin shell with replaceable mesh inserts for the nose and ears, allowing the dog to eat treats and carry objects in her mouth while still protecting against foxtails.
