Anthropic's Project Fetch Phase Two demonstrates that Claude Opus 4.7 can autonomously complete robotic tasks roughly 20 times faster than the fastest human teams from the original 2025 experiment, completing every task at least 10 times faster and up to 37 times faster on certain objectives. While the newer model excels at high-level tasks like sensor connection and software development, it still struggles with precise physical manipulation like retrieving objects, indicating that LLMs have not yet solved low-level robotic control. The results illustrate a pattern where AI models first assist humans, then humans assist models, and finally models perform tasks largely independently—a dynamic already observed in cybersecurity and now emerging in AI and robotics.
