Pratt parsing is a black box
Most Pratt parsing tutorials focus on explaining the algorithm itself rather than the underlying concepts that matter. The author argues that understanding Pratt's implementation details (which fit in just 9 lines of code) is unnecessary—what matters is grasping the core principle that Pratt parsing reduces to a simple question: "What do we expect to see to the left of a token?" Just as users don't need to understand filesystems to use files, programmers can effectively use Pratt parsing by adopting the right conceptual mindset rather than memorizing implementation specifics.
