OpenAI restores 5-hour Codex and Work limits for ChatGPT Plus users

OpenAI is reinstating a five-hour usage limit on Codex and ChatGPT Work for Plus subscribers, effective August 25, 2026, after temporarily removing it for several weeks. The company stated the limit is necessary to manage compute load and prevent casual users from accidentally exhausting their weekly allowance. Pro $100 and Pro $200 subscribers will not have the five-hour limit enforced during the upcoming months.
