Three-time Olympic runner Jenny Simpson has retired from competitive running after suffering sudden cardiac arrest in June, which revealed she has Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), a rare inherited heart condition. After collapsing at a track event in North Carolina, Simpson underwent life support treatment at Duke Hospital and has since recovered, though her doctors advise against returning to running due to the dangers posed by her condition. Simpson, now 39, will continue her role as chief running officer at Fleet Feet while focusing on her recovery and finding new ways to contribute to the running community.
