Novo Nordisk, Eli Lilly Report GLP-1 Signals of Slowed Biological Aging at ARDD
Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly presented early clinical data at the ARDD conference suggesting their GLP-1 drugs semaglutide and tirzepatide may slow biological aging as measured by molecular clocks. Novo's study of over 10,000 participants found semaglutide slowed proteomic aging clocks by approximately two to four years across different tissues, with effects appearing within 13-20 weeks. Lilly's epigenetic analysis showed similar results, with all age-tracking measures indicating less aging than the actual elapsed time, suggesting these weight-loss drugs may have broader longevity benefits beyond their metabolic effects.
