NASA-IBM Lunar Foundation open-Source Geospatial AI Model

NASA and IBM have released an open-source artificial intelligence model trained on nearly two million lunar datasets across 11 different data modalities to help researchers analyze Moon exploration data. The NASA-IBM Lunar Foundation Model was evaluated on crater detection, volcanic landform mapping, and lunar ice prospecting, outperforming comparison models across all three benchmarks. USRA contributed planetary science expertise to the project, helping align the model's development with lunar research priorities.
