My Feed, My Way

The Australian Government has released draft legislation for a "Digital Duty of Care" that will require social media platforms and digital services to provide safer online environments and give users more control. The centerpiece is a "My Feed, My Way" initiative that allows users to opt out of algorithm-personalized feeds and instead see only content from creators and friends they choose to follow. Digital services will also be required to protect minors from addictive design features and harmful content, with non-compliance carrying penalties up to $109.2 million.
