Modern Blu-ray drives can now rip GameCube, Wii, and Xbox 360 games to PC

Modern Blu-ray drives equipped with OmniDrive firmware can now rip games from GameCube, Wii, original Xbox, and Xbox 360 consoles to PC, eliminating the need to modify the consoles themselves. The firmware works only with compatible Blu-ray drives using the MediaTek MT1959 chipset from manufacturers like Asus, LG, Buffalo, and Verbatim, and converts game discs into ISO files using open-source tools. This represents a significant advancement in game preservation and emulation, though newer console formats like PlayStation 3 and Xbox One games remain encrypted and unreadable.
