Microsoft withdrew its DMCA copyright takedown notice against Luanti, an open-source voxel game platform, allowing the app to be reinstated on Google Play Store. The withdrawal indicates Microsoft has dropped the case entirely and does not plan to pursue legal action, despite having previously alleged that Luanti infringed on Minecraft's copyright. Ironically, Microsoft Research internally uses Luanti for its own projects due to its open-source design and flexible API, which the company found superior to Minecraft for research purposes.
