Micron and SK hynix are each committing billions of dollars to expand U.S. semiconductor manufacturing—Micron investing up to $3 billion in domestic supply chain infrastructure including raw silicon wafer production in Texas, while SK hynix is breaking ground on an advanced chip packaging facility in Indiana. However, meaningful production from these investments will not materialize until 2028 or later, creating a significant gap before new capacity comes online.
