Meta pulls new AI image feature after days of backlash

Meta has removed a new AI image generation feature called Muse Image after just days of backlash over privacy concerns. The feature allowed users to create fake images using content from public Instagram accounts without the account owners' knowledge or permission, as users were automatically opted in by default. The company acknowledged it "missed the mark" following criticism from Hollywood union SAG-AFTRA and privacy advocates who warned about the dangers of unauthorized use of people's likenesses.
