Matt Mullenweg has been reinstated as CEO of Automattic just two days after being placed on paid leave by the board, with CFO Mark Davies' interim appointment apparently reversed. Mullenweg announced his return via Slack and X, claiming the board is "back in agreement" and that he is "in control of Automattic," while also deactivating Davies' Slack account and removing other admins. The rapid reversal came after Mullenweg had characterized his removal as a "coup attempt" by Davies and the board.
