Margaret Hamilton, a pioneering computer scientist who led the software development team at MIT for NASA's Apollo program, has died at age 90. Over two decades at MIT, Hamilton directed the team that programmed the computers for the first human moon landings, overseeing more than 400 people working on Apollo's software. Her groundbreaking work in computer science and engineering earned her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016.
