Kaspersky researchers discovered new Android malware that infected car head units through built-in firmware updaters, marking the first documented malware case specifically targeting automotive systems. The multi-stage malware, attributed to the MoYu Group, was designed for ad fraud and creating a proxy botnet, spreading silently without user knowledge or interface. This represents a novel attack vector exploiting the update mechanisms of Android-based vehicle infotainment systems.
