Namespace Labs has deployed hundreds of MacBook Pros in custom datacenter racks to provide Mac infrastructure for customers who need to build and test iOS apps, which legally requires using Apple hardware and recent Xcode versions. Despite MacBook Pros being suboptimal for datacenter use compared to Mac Minis, supply chain delays and staggered CPU release schedules forced the company to innovate custom solutions including IP KVM management, external 10G Ethernet NICs, and specialized heat management systems to make the laptops function reliably at scale.
