Lithuanian startup launches open-source network to detect Shahed-type drones

A Lithuanian startup has launched Drone Rada, a crowdsourced detection system that uses volunteers' Android smartphones to identify Shahed-type drones by analyzing ambient sounds for their distinctive low-frequency engine signatures. The network maps drone locations in real-time when multiple nearby devices detect the same acoustic signal, with plans to recruit 10,000 active users across the Baltic states and Poland while prioritizing user privacy. The initiative aims to strengthen regional security by converting civilian devices into a distributed sensor network, potentially expanding to include surveillance cameras and telecommunications tower installations.
