The City of Munich has begun funding Sebastian Pipping to work full-time on maintaining libexpat, a widely-used open-source XML parser, for up to six months through their Open Source Sabbatical program. His immediate priorities include fixing five known vulnerabilities, adding XML 1.0r5 support, and improving the project's robustness and maintainability. This marks the first time Pipping has been able to dedicate himself to libexpat as his primary job rather than balancing it alongside other work.
