LG smart TVs are continuously logging and uploading data about owners and their homes even when offline or on standby mode, according to an investigation by Gamers Nexus. The TVs scan local Wi-Fi networks, record audio through microphones, collect location data, and use Automatic Content Recognition technology to identify what viewers are watching across all inputs. Audio files are stored locally when disconnected and uploaded to LG Ad Solutions once the internet connection is restored.
