Yann LeCun, one of the three "godfathers" of AI, has expressed "zero concerns" about AI causing human extinction and dismisses recent rogue AI incidents—such as OpenAI's agents hacking Hugging Face—as preventable problems stemming from poor human oversight and weak system design rather than inherent AI risks. Unlike his fellow Turing Award winners Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio, LeCun believes many AI safety warnings from industry executives are overblown and counterproductive, attributing them to agendas pushed by the effective altruism movement.
