Leaderboards and speedrun.com's new terms of service

On October 1, 2026, speedrun.com removed Creative Commons licensing from its terms of service, giving its parent company Elo ownership of all user data and leaderboard information. The new terms significantly restrict community use of speedrun.com data, prohibiting automated access, banning projects that accept donations (including charity marathons and Patreon-funded tools), and blocking any tools with features "substantially similar" to the platform itself. This impacts countless community projects, bots, overlays, and tools that have previously relied on open access to speedrun data.
