LayerFS: The filesystem for AI coding agents

LayerFS is a specialized filesystem designed for AI coding agents that enables ephemeral, sandboxed workspaces mounted over shared committed history, allowing multiple agents to work in parallel on the same project without conflicts. The system optimizes storage through deduplication and compression, reducing 10 copies of files to just 0.31 copies, while enabling instant bootstrapping by including dependencies in every mount. Each agent's file operations are treated as atomic commits, enabling detailed tracking, conflict detection, and recursive forking at zero cost for exploring different development paths.
