Launching Route 53 Files

AWS has launched Route 53 Files, a new file system that allows users to manage DNS records directly through standard UNIX file operations rather than requiring separate console or API interactions. The system mounts Route 53 hosted zones as native file systems on EC2 instances, containers, and Lambda functions, with changes automatically synchronized across all access methods with approximately 90-second latency. This eliminates the historical need to reload or recompile DNS configuration after editing, making DNS management more seamless across AWS compute resources.
