A researcher has released Kuna, an experimental decompiler developed almost entirely by an LLM, which achieves nearly identical performance to industry-standard IDA Pro by autonomously learning from comparative benchmarks against IDA Pro, Ghidra, and angr. The project demonstrates that LLMs can reimplement complex decompilation features through trial-and-error refinement, though it relies on decades of foundational decompiler research and human-guided scientific insights to function effectively.
