KNOPPIX is a bootable live operating system distributed on CD, DVD, or USB drives that contains GNU/Linux software with automatic hardware detection and support for various peripherals, requiring no hard disk installation. It can function as a desktop system, educational tool, rescue system, or product demonstration platform, with the DVD version capable of storing over 9GB of executable software through on-the-fly decompression.
