JetBrains has launched JetBrains Air, an open system of interconnected products designed to support agentic software development across individual developers, teams, and organizations. The system expands beyond the traditional IDE-focused approach to encompass agent initiation, execution, coordination, review, and governance, with components including Air in JetBrains IDEs, Air Teams for workflow coordination, and Air Governance for organizational control. JetBrains believes the future of agentic development will be multi-vendor, requiring the system to remain open to third-party tools and agents rather than being proprietary.
