Jean-Pierre Serre is 100 years old today

Jean-Pierre Serre, a French mathematician born on September 15, 1926, is celebrating his 100th birthday today. He has made significant contributions to algebraic topology, algebraic geometry, and algebraic number theory, and was a member of the Bourbaki group. Serre developed his mathematical passion early in life, teaching himself advanced mathematics from his mother's calculus textbooks and winning first place in the 1944 Concours General mathematics competition.
