Key updates include making G1 the default garbage collector across all environments due to performance parity with Serial GC, implementing post-quantum hybrid key exchange for TLS 1.3 to protect against future quantum computing threats, and enabling compact object headers by default to reduce heap memory usage and improve performance by up to 22%.
