It's time to talk about my writerdeck

The author converted an old Linux laptop into a "writerdeck"—a distraction-free writing device—by installing a minimal Debian setup with only a command-line interface (TTY), removing the desktop environment entirely. The setup includes neovim for writing, network-manager for occasional connectivity to back up files, and intentionally eliminates graphical interfaces and browsers to force focused, intentional writing. This approach leverages the laptop's excellent keyboard and screen while breaking habitual desktop OS behavior that typically leads to distraction.
