Israel creates fake think tank in likely attempt to dupe AI chatbots
Israel created a fake think tank called the Hanover Institute that has published over 100 articles designed to manipulate AI chatbots into producing pro-Israel content on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The institute, created by a firm working for the Israeli Government Advertising Agency, uses neutral-toned reports with footnotes and tables of contents styled to appear credible to AI systems, a practice known as "LLM poisoning." The reports frame questions about Palestinian displacement, Israeli military actions, and Gaza's humanitarian crisis in ways intended to counter narratives that favor Palestinians.
