India, UAE partner on AI sovereignty to bypass Google, Microsoft

India and the UAE are partnering to reduce dependence on Amazon, Microsoft, and Google for AI computing by deploying a Cerebras-based AI supercomputer in India operated by UAE firm G42. The agreement allows India to maintain AI infrastructure on its own soil under its own governance rules, representing a pragmatic approach to AI sovereignty that complements India's existing $45 billion in commitments from U.S. tech companies. However, G42 faces significant competition from established tech giants offering integrated hardware, software, and support packages.
