I Built a Private Genomics Study with Stoffel MPC

A researcher built a proof-of-concept genomics study using Stoffel MPC that allowed 100 simulated participants to contribute genetic data and compute aggregate allele counts without any party ever seeing the complete dataset. The experiment demonstrates how multi-party computation could enable genomic research to produce useful results while keeping individual DNA data private and decentralized on participants' devices, avoiding the traditional model where genetic data is uploaded to a central service. This approach addresses the unique privacy risks of genomic data, which is highly identifying, cannot be changed after a breach, and can reveal information about relatives.
