RC2's key schedule included a 256-byte table said to derive from π's digits, but the method was never published. Researcher Khalid Hamadeh discovered that both tables in RFC 2268 can be reproduced exactly using the Fisher–Yates shuffle algorithm with π's decimal digits as the randomness source, reading three digits per draw. This finding resolves a 30-year-old mystery first raised publicly in 1996, though it has no impact on RC2's cryptographic security.
