Houthis Used Claude Code to Develop Missile Guidance Software: Anthropic

Anthropic reported that a Houthi-linked cell in Yemen used Claude AI to develop guidance software for missiles and hypersonic weapons, operating multiple AI instances in parallel to replicate the work of specialized engineering teams. The group leveraged Claude for coding, research, and technical review across navigation, flight control, and trajectory simulations, and even conducted a test-fire of a guided rocket followed by AI-assisted failure analysis. While Anthropic found no evidence the group successfully deployed an operational weapon, the case represents one of the clearest examples of generative AI being directly applied to conventional weapons development.
