Heart Aerospace Completes First Flight of Largest Electric Aircraft

Heart Aerospace successfully completed the first flight of the X1, the largest battery-electric aircraft ever built, which spanned 106 feet and weighed over 25,000 pounds at takeoff. The 27-minute piloted flight on August 12, 2026, reached 1,100 feet altitude and demonstrated the viability of all-electric propulsion at a commercial scale, using only $5 worth of electricity. The X1 is a demonstrator for Heart's ES-30 production aircraft, a 30-seat hybrid-electric regional airliner that has already attracted commitments from major carriers including United Airlines and Air Canada.
