Headlong: A Microharness for Persistent Agents

Headlong is an open-source agent microharness that enables persistent agency, allowing AI agents to continuously think and generate ideas independently rather than remaining dormant between external requests. Built with less than 10,000 lines of Bash code, Headlong agents maintain a single stream of consciousness where all messages and interactions feed in as observations, enabling the agent to set its own priorities and initiate unprompted actions. The system is designed for multi-user collaboration, with teams experiencing the agent as a persistent team member that can connect different people's work and generate its own projects across a unified thought stream.
